Ducks in a Row

Ducks in a Row

"Plan ahead. Be prepared. Be organized."
We grow up being told to get our ducks in a row,
but plans change, the unexpected happens,
and life gets messy, the further along we go.

Sometimes ducks are stolen by predators,
or they swim away, still in sight, but out of reach.
Sometimes ducks have minds of their own.
They swim in circles going nowhere,
no matter how hard you preach.

You finally realize that some ducks can't be controlled.
So relax!
Let them swim and quack.
Take delight in the brilliant sheen
of the blue and green
of  their feathers,
and know that, one way or another,
eventually,
they'll get back on track,
(and so will you).

Good advice and beautiful photos of the ducks. Is this lake/park where you walk in the afternoons?

    1. No, this is a lake in the nearby town of Barberton. We go there occasionally to shop or dine out, but it is too far away for me to walk there. :)

  9. Hmmm, which came first... the pictures or the poem? Somehow, I suspect the pictures inspired the poem, but either way, they go together perfectly. Very good advice, too.

    Have a super weekend!

    1. Thanks, Liza! Actually, I took these photos last year when we had snow. We are snow-free right now, and I am quite happy about that. I agree with you, I want this warmer weather to last.
