Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch

"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"

Our neighbor's dog
is a noisy, little ball of white fluff.
He bounces along
the length of the chain link fence
around his yard,
as if tossed by the wind.

"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"

He barks at all passersby:
whether cars, kids, squirrels,
 other dogs, or butterflies.
His owner calls him Atticus.
We call him, That Yappycuss.
Like his namesake,
he takes seriously his job to defend.

"YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP, YAP!"

  2. At the very least, Atticus, barks a greeting to all who pass even if a bit too enthusiastically...and too often.

  9. Yappicus lol...cute poem . Does this drive you crazy. I lived in a house in Wrightwood after we sold and there was a yappy dog that never never ever stopped barking and they never let him in the house. I even went over and complained and the guy looked at me like - too bad - deal with it.

    1. Sandy, most days I am able to ignore it, but there are some days when it gets annoying. She does take him inside when the weather isn't nice enough for him to be out, so that gives us a reprieve.

    2. I am so fortunate in this house - Gigi lived next door - sweetest little dog ever and never once barked at me over the fence - even the first day we momved in. hope all is well were you are - I've been thinking and wondering how the world has changed in your area.

  15. I love how you were able to magically turn a non-stop headache into an adorable poem! Maybe you should slip a copy into the owners’ mailbox, though a muzzle would work like a charm. Hope you’ll get some peace and quiet soon!

  20. Oh no, that is so annoying, Connie.
With all that yap, yap, yap, you can't even take a peaceful nap. But you could turn it into a fun poem, naturally. It's what you do so well.

  22. Oh My.... I hate barking dogs (which bark CONSTANTLY). We have one across the field from us which barks and barks and barks. I don't think the owners even TRY to shut that dog up at all.... Drives us crazy. I love dogs--but hate the ones that bark constantly.... NUFF SAID.

    Cute poem though.....
    Hugs,
    Betsy
